NAMMA Families Fair 2017
When I first started this journey toward becoming a postpartum doula, I was fortunate to have my amazing friend, Amanda Hemm of Babysteps Postpartum Care, several steps ahead of me on the same path. In addition to being my unspoken mentor, she has been instrumental in forming a local group for perinatal professionals - NAMMA Families. (NAMMA stands for Nashoba, Assabet, and Metrowest MA, the regions served by our members) NAMMA members include a wide variety of professionals who work with prenatal and postpartum families - not just doulas and midwives, but sleep consultants, lactation consultants, photographers, acupuncturists, chiropractors and more. It is an amazing group of dedicated, thoughtful providers.
Local readers, I invite you to come to the NAMMA Families Fair on Sunday, September 24 from 12-4 at the West Acton Villageworks. In addition to meeting some of the NAMMA members, there will be FREE educational workshops led by some of our experts covering a range of topics from prenatal nutrition to infant sleep, local birthing options to breastfeeding and returning to work. Full details can be found here at the NAMMA Families Fair website. You'll want to preregister for the workshops, as space is limited.
In addition, there will be kid-friendly activities sponsored by local businesses (face-painting, story telling and more!), and a raffle to benefit First Connections, a local non-profit, which provides comprehensive parent support and programs for families with infants and young children. I've been organizing the raffle goodies - trust me, you do not want to miss it. Local and national businesses have been very generous in their support of NAMMA Families and First Connections - and we are so very grateful.
